Frozen
One special feature of living on an island is the period when a lake between an island and the mainland freezes and thaws. This is always accompanied by a time when you cannot move over the back of the lake. In the fall, the change of state of water, cooling, and freezing is often a longer process, while in the spring, melting can occur in one, a few days, but each year the process is different, its own.
Whenever I can, I try to stay around during this period of time to welcome it as a gift of nature.
